Shima & Shima Border China by Spode

Spode Shima was introduced in 1971 and was similar to an early Spode design from 1818, Willis Centre with Mosaic Border, a copy of a Chinese porcelain design. (The Willis name is thought to refer to the proprietor of the Thatched House Tavern in St. James' Street, London. Early Spode pieces from the 1820s are known with the Thatched House Tavern printed on the back of the plates.) The Shima pattern was discontinued in the early 1980s, but a pattern with the border only known as Shima Border was produced from 1986 to 1992.

The gold trim on these patterns means they are not safe for use in the microwave. If you need replacement or additional pieces for your collection of Spode Shima or Shima Border, monitor this page on a weekly basis for new listings.

Eventually, your item should show up for sale.

When it comes to finding Spode that is difficult to find in stores near you, one of your best resources for acquiring the items you want are sites like Amazon, Etsy, Replacements and eBay, where there are a lot of wonderful finds still in the original boxes. We all receive those odd items as gifts that we have no need for and never use. Yet, one person's junk could be exactly the treasure you want.

Please Note: Not all Spode is safe for use in the microwave. Patterns with gold or platinum decorations around the rim should not be used in your microwave because microwaves can not pass through metal. If in doubt, use this simple test: Is this Utensil Safe for the Microwave?

I am thrilled! There are many more recipes then I expected. I am very excited since my husband often works late and I end up with sandwiches rather then making myself something to eat.. —Barbara Andersen, New York
