Villeroy & Boch Old Luxembourg Brindille
Old Luxembourg Brindille Available Directly From Villeroy & Boch — Introduced in 2018. Vintage or contemporary? The look of the Old Luxembourg Brindille dinnerware is betting on both and presenting the first design in the Villeroy & Boch history, Old Luxemburg, with the fine, blue flower branch in a new style. The traditional form and decoration has been newly interpreted and adapted into a contemporary design.
The Old Luxembourg Brindille design is an eye-catcher for its color alone. Deep cobalt blue is quite simply the historical color for porcelain designs, already used for Chinese vases from the 1st millennium and the famous Delft fine tin-glazed pottery. The roots of the floral motif go back to the 18th century: starting in 1768 the Boch brothers used the Brindille as a hand-painted design on fine stoneware dishes in their factory in Septfontains, Luxemburg.
And that’s why today the flower vines are being used on a modern, simple round form as the dinnerware collection Old Luxembourg Brindille — sometimes in powerful blue on shining white like the historical original, sometimes inverting the colors to white on blue. Furthermore, some of the aspects of the motif have been cut out, enlarged and presented anew. This way the dishes receive a contemporary, expressive colorfulness with strong decorative impulses.
Old Luxembourg Brindille is manufactured out of premium porcelain and decorated using the lithographic technique. All the items are microwave and dishwasher safe; and therefore made for everyday use.
