WMF Kitchen Tools
WMF is an acronym for Wuerttembergische Metallwarenfabrik, a much more daunting name to pronounce. WMF was founded in 1853 and is based in Geislingen, Germany. A manufacturer of fine kitchen and tableware products, the company prides itself on its 1892 patent of a silver-plating process that adds extra silver to areas of its flatware that are more exposed to air. The company also gained exclusive rights in 1927 to use V2A steel, or Cromargan, a durable substance synonymous with stainless steel, in its tableware products. WMF products are available to consumers and are also sold to fine restaurants, first-rate hotels, and quality-conscious caterers.
