Studio Nova Dinnerware
The Studio Nova brand was a member of the Mikasa family. Created in 1984 and dedicated to serving the fashion-minded consumer, Studio Nova continuously offered a successful variety of transitional and contemporary designs of superior quality which is suitable for any lifestyle. From the contemporary to the traditional, the quality of these patterns will prove fitting for any occasion.
In 2004, Truck Product Architecture, the New York based design firm, created its first line for the Studio Nova brand. The warmly modern Truck Collection was launched at the 2004 Chicago Housewares Show and includes uniquely designed dinnerware, flatware, stemware, barware, accessories, kitchenware and small furnishings.
Jennifer Carpenter, founding partner and Director of Design at Truck, developed the line with the rigor and attention to detail that is indicative of practicing architecture for almost ten years. "We take material and structural cues from the built environment and reinterpret them for the product scale" she explains. With its dedication to contemporary excellence in dining, Studio Nova is highly qualified to meet Truck's exacting production standards and shares Truck's belief in good, accessible design. "All of Truck's work is designed for people who, like me, want to be surrounded by smartly designed products that are seriously functional but also fun — and fairly priced." — states Jennifer.
At the end of 2007, the Studio Nova line of patterns was discontinued by Mikasa and replaced with Gourmet Basics by Mikasa, which features everyday casual dinnerware, created with style. Gourmet Basics by Mikasa offers the same quality and style you came to love about Studio Nova; the name has just changed.
