Villeroy & Boch Samarkand Cobalt Blue
Situated along the Silk Road that leads from China to Europe is Samarkand. The trading metropolis reached its height in the 14th century. Europeans were fascinated by this beautiful city with its spectacular architecture and its high art of handicrafts: precious, glossy silks with elegant patterns and geometric ornaments enriched European tradition with a new, exciting luxury. Taking its inspiration from Samarkand, and with an eye to its own established traditions at home, Villeroy & Boch has created a timeless and exquisite interpretation of elements of the folklore of the East with four patterns to enhance your Samarkand table setting.
The designs pick up on elements of Eastern architecture and interpret these elements so skillfully that the ornaments divulge their exotic character only at second glance. The fine colors and elegant combinations of color symbolize the preciousness and the luster of silk. Cobalt Blue, along with Aquamarine, Mandarin, and Rubin, symbolize the journey along the Silk Road, from China through India and Persia to Arabia: opulently ornamented with great love of detail, they present figures of a horse, elephant, lion and dromedary. Fine golden accents on all of the pieces add, unobtrusively yet expressly, to the high quality of the series. While not suitable for the microwave because of the gold accents, Samarkand Cobalt Blue does go safely into the dishwasher.
Villeroy & Boch Samarkand Cobalt Blue was produced from 2011 to 2015. If you need replacement or additional pieces for your Villeroy & Boch Samarkand Cobalt Blue collection, monitor this page on a weekly basis for new listings.

When it comes to finding Villeroy & Boch that is difficult to find in stores near you, one of your best resources for acquiring the items you want are sites like Amazon, Etsy, Replacements and eBay, where there are a lot of wonderful finds still in the original boxes. We all receive those odd items as gifts that we have no need for and never use. Yet, one person's junk could be exactly the treasure you want.
Please Note: Not all Villeroy & Boch is safe for use in the microwave. Patterns with gold or platinum decorations should not be used in a microwave because microwaves can not pass through metal. If in doubt, use this simple test: Is this Utensil Safe for the Microwave?
