Cuisinart
While vacationing in France Carl and Shirley Sontheimer witnessed the demonstration of a restaurant food preparation machine. Carl, a retired physicist and accomplished cook, returned home convinced that the technology they had seen could be adapted for home use. He began tinkering, and in 1973, the Sontheimers unveiled the result at the National Housewares Exposition in Chicago. They called it, simply, a "food processor." By 1988, Carl's simple food processor had given birth to Cuisinart, one of the premier brands of kitchen equipment and utensils in America.
